My Strength Testing Results And Athlete Physique Update

Wednesday, August 19th, 2009

I recently took up in a new gym in Finglas…

I have been over there on a few reconnaissance missions, basically sussing the place out…

I’m delighted with the place, its perfect.

-Matted areas,

-Seperate weights/dumbbell area

-Kettle bells,

-Prowlers,

-Funky bars I’ve never used before (except in the states)

Don’t be put off either as it is not ALL hardcore equipment and man sweat :-)

There is equipment there to assist untrained individuals and beginners, much better than your standard commercial gym… Perfect for athletes and people training to look better naked alike.

There is no posing and nobody (except Will who may mock you at any given time…it is his place after all) staring at you.

It is the perfect training environment… I arrived one night and Barry told me I wasnt allowed train until I was tested … I done a sneaky little workout and even made a little soundtrack for Dan :-)

I got away with that day but I knew I had to get it out if the way…

I cling on to my personal records too much…they were as follows (like 18months ago and not on the same day)

Weight: 73kg

Bench: 140kg

Deadlift: 240kg (straight bar)

Squat 175kg (stupid femurs)

Upper Bodyweight 300 in 13:47

And i have been 4.2% bodyfat at one stage

Not Now :-)

But in Informed Performance:

‘Everyone tests…even the trainers’

Its stupid really…talking about personal bests…thats like saying

‘I used to be lean…now im fat’

Im stealing wills quote here:

‘I really dont care where you were last year, I want to know where you are now’

TEST, TEST, TEST…otherwise you will never be able to keep track of what is working for you and what isn’t.

If you are training for a good physique you might think that the mirror is good enough..it isn’t. You have to keep track of your performance first. Your performance will be directly related to your physical appearance.

So here’s the results…

Weight: 77.8Kg
Skinfolds: 47.3mm (8 site total)
Bench: 120kg
Pull Ups: 21 (oh yea I counted them and we missed one)
Push Ups: 73 in 60 secs
Inverted Rows: 35 in 60 secs
Trap Bar Deadlift: 220kg

And Last week i got 12:59 on the Upper Body 300

I’m carrying a little extra muscle and fat..some of that has to go for the up and coming boxing season!

Here is a couple of videos of the testing session… have the deadlift and clips from the others in…unless you want to count push ups? You have better things to do right?

-

-

My goals are as follows:

Skinfolds: – 40mm
Bench: 140kg
Pull Ups: 25
Push Ups: 80 in 60 secs
Inverted Rows: 40 in 60 secs
Trap Bar Deadlift: 220kg +

You have to have goals…

‘You cant hit a target you dont hang’

My training has been somewhat disjointed lately and this testing session made me realize I had been just ‘working out’ lately not Training

The only time I am training with a goal in mind is when im fighting/ have a fight coming up. Since the season ended I have been showing up in the gym and rubbing my hands together and saying to myself

‘What Now’

I know better…I would NEVER let a client go on like that and there I was getting off the hook…

Not now… I will be training… working out is for @**holes

The Weekend, Messy But I’m Still Here

Tuesday, August 11th, 2009

Few Updates Today.

My week was hectic to say the least.

Watching the UFC sat night and getting home at 7am.

To the 300 upperbody workout Sunday after 3 hours sleep AND then running around all day doing consultations and helping out a few people (I ended up in Navan at one stage).

Well not quite his workout but it does add up to 300 :-)

Well not quite his workout but it does add up to 300 :-)

300 Upper Body Workout

25 Bodyweight chins

100 Bodyweight Dips

50 Inverted Rows

100 Push Ups

25 Chins

-Full range of motion on all exercises,

-No half arsed chins or little lady elbow push ups.

-You decide how many reps you do and how much rest you take between ’sets’ but DO NOT leave the station you are on until you finish the allocated number of reps.

I.e.

On  the chins: you may do 10, then 3 sets of 5 with 30 seconds recovery between each set of 5, doesnt matter once you get the total number done. THEN  move on to the next exercise.

I got 12.59 seconds. Beating my previous record by 43 seconds.

George got 18:48

Dave Gorman got 20:41

Mark Hartigan got 21:25

Fun For All :-)

Easy eh? Time yourself and see how you got on…

Then.

To an early start on monday and a peek at the new Gym ‘Informed Performance’  that evening. (okay that wasnt so bad) The equipment is absolutely ridiculous, I cannot wait to have a go at it :-)

Theres my vent over with :-)

Athlete Physique Transformation Underway- I Kept It Quiet

Thursday, July 16th, 2009

Jay Beasely has been working behind the scenes the last 6 weeks on the Athlete Physique programme.

He lost a steady 2% bodyfat per week and maintained all his muscle mass… hisnext date with the skinfold calipers is sunday and we will be updated again :-)

Physique Development Success System

Physique Development Success System

Yea I kept it quiet but I had to make sure he was gonna stick it out! No offence Jay :-)

But he has been strict and dedicated to the programme and i am confident he will look well on stage in 6 weeks or so…

Kept it quiet

Kept it quiet

I met Jay (properly) only about 8 weeks ago. He was having some hip pain and I helped him out with some advice. I knew him to see and I knew he trained hard so what harm was it to give out a little free advice?

Little did i know he was a stalker!

Well okay he was just curious and about 500 questions later I realised I had found my guinea pig!

He was:

1. Interested

2. Dedicated

3. Highly Trained

and most importantly

4. He had a goal to achieve

-

His goal was to compete in his first show in the NABBA (Natural Amateur Bodybuilders Association) competition here in Ireland… In 12 weeks!

At 17% bodyfat this almost seemed impossible to be stage ready NATURALLY in 12 weeks…

E A S Y…

So we got to work…

I done his skinfolds… Oh I love them ice cold skinfold calipers….dont you? :-)

I’ll use a picture of Ian to demonstrate the fun and my hairy hands…haha

Ian on day 15 of his transformation getting attacked with the dreaded calipers

Ian on day 15 of his transformation getting attacked with the dreaded calipers

Well for the measurements and his progress so far head on over to

—-> http://jaybeasley.wordpress.com

You will have t give him a break he only started his blog in week 4 so it is a little bare but he will be updating it regularly and I already told him he has to go out and buy a sense of humour or people wont read it haha

Thanks for reading!

(because im funny)

Gain Muscle, Lose Fat- Athlete Physique For FREE

Saturday, July 4th, 2009

Here’s the deal!

I’m just putting the finishing touches on the ‘Athlete Physique’ program that Ian and I have been working hard behind the scenes to create for a while now. Remember Ian was in Canada and he was competing and got all fake tanned etc. It’s the program he followed to get in ridiculous shape in just 11 weeks (he was sick for one week)

Pity i couldnt do anything about his face.. haha that never gets old :-)

Pity i couldnt do anything about his face.. haha that never gets old :-)

Everything… from his training and nutrition plans, session videos, progressions and all that cool stuff!

http://www.athletephysique.com

NO I am not selling anything!

I DO want something though…

What and who am I looking for?

Well first a little background on the programme…

It is aimed at people who are ALREADY trained and consists of *12 weeks intensive exercise, strict as hell nutrition and lifestyle coaching. Thing is we want to get people through this and seeing results ASAP so what we are going to do is…

Drum Roll Please…

Give it away for FRE.E

You heard me right, I am going to give away 6 copies absolutely free.

3 people who live locally in Dublin/ are prepared to travel to Dublin every 2 weeks for assessment.

And 3 people online…

-

I’ll be taking my chosen subjects through the exact training and nutrition practices Ian used to transform his physique earlier in the year. I want to prove that it is THE ultimate training and nutrition SYSTEM for advanced trainees to take their training to the next level.

Just think…

– > NO fasted cardio
– > NO Starvation diets
– > Be in the best shape of your life

FOR FRE.E!

Okay there is a catch…

==> I’m looking for men who are SERIOUS and DESPERATE to get in the best shape of their lives

==> Sceptics. If you don’t think it will work for you but you are prepared to try anyway, you’re my man!

==> I’m looking for people who will start the program, do as they are told and FINISH the program.

==> I need people who are going to blog their physique transformation (including before, during and after pictures) and who will allow me to use blog material and before and after pictures. But trust me they will be GOOD before and after pictures : )

==> I’m looking for people who train like bodybuilders but don’t look like one (and don’t particularly want to either) and are bored of their training or simply aren’t getting the results they want!

If you live in Dublin I will even meet with you every 2 weeks to take measurements and give you a hand myself!

That’s it!

Pretty simple, right?

Check out the audio interview i done with Jon Le Tocq from www.worldstoughestworkouts.com
here—> http://athletephysique.com/

If you like the way you are training and you are still getting results and look your absolute best then this isn’t for you.

“Why’s Bryan Doing this?”

It’s obvious, but I’ll spell it out anyway…

I’m looking for walking billboards that will prove the power and effectiveness of this new program.

The way I figure it is this; people are sceptical. They don’t really believe that results like Ian got were naturally possible so, if I were to just start selling the program today, even though it works, I’d probably sell a handful only, as people wouldn’t believe it was possible.

However…

At the end of this experiment I’m going to have 6 people demonstrating the absolute proof of my claims to anyone who’ll listen. And it’ll be in ‘real time’ too.

Just like Ian’s transformation.

Once my readers see the results for themselves I’ll have no problem whatsoever selling the program. I guarantee it.

So THAT’s my reason. It’s up front for everyone to see. Nothing hidden.

Still Interested?

-

If you’re still interested, here’s what you need to do…

Drop me an email with ‘ AP Application’ in the subject line to bryan@athleticbodysystem.com AND Leave a comment below

Go ahead and ’sell’ yourself into the program by telling me absolutely anything and everything you think I need to know in order to make up my mind abut giving you a place. (I think one or two paragraphs should do it)

Ian and I will personally choose the lucky winners.

I’ll be announcing the chosen places during the week so there’s no time to hang about.

If you want in and you’re SERIOUS (Did I mention that already?) then leave your message in the comments area below and drop me that email.

Speak soon!

Bryan and Ian

Eating Healthy. Meal Timing, Portion Control And Satiety

Thursday, June 25th, 2009

Write it all down!

That’s it, simple as that!

Even if you don’t have a training/Nutrition diary (which you should) you should really take on this practice now.

You see, logging what you eat will make you aware of the mess you are making of yourself! It’s ok to eat and forget but when the amount you ate is there staring at you it’s very hard to go really overboard!

If you document what you are eating and write down the quantity and time you last ate and when your next meal is due you will not eat nearly as much! Align your eating plans through the days that you are only allowed a meal every 3-4 hours! I know it’s not ideal but its realistic and you could save yourself 3-4 snacks through the day that may add up to 1000’s of calories!

What amazes me is how much people underestimate what they eat.

Come On Tell The Truth!

Come On Tell The Truth!

A fruit salad becomes a FRUIT SALAD, and a portion of green vegetables becomes and big smelly load of potatoes.

Thats More Like It!

Thats More Like It!

I am not imagining this.

A recent study concluded that people who are asked to monitor and later estimate the amount of calories they are taking in are only allowing for 35% of the calories the consumed. I.e. they recorded 1100 and in actual fact they consumed 3000!

Sadly I am not overestimating, its the truth. Yet these same people spend 1000’s on weight watchers and diet pills and fat blockers such as ‘Alli’ and carb blockers. Even if they did do all the magical things they say they do, 1900 kcals in a day?

Eh…NO

So what i want you to do is start writing down what it is you are eating and when. it will make you aware of where your dietary mistakes lie and how to combat them.

The problem with that is people write everything down and then …nothing. They dont lose weight and come crying to me about it.

What I want you to do is …

Drum Roll Please…

Write it down and then … actually look at it afterwards!

Look at where your slipping and where you can improve. I have used this technique with a few clients lately with great success! They actually diagnose their own problem and formulate a solution all by themselves.

I have even wen to the bother of putting this special report together for you over the last couple evenings!

Not only does it look nice but it will help you plan your week and make correct food choices. All the guesswork is taken away, this manual will take you by the hand and teach you how to:

Simply Enter your name and address below for your FREE report that

How to eat
When to eat it
How much to Eat and
How to Strategically Cheat

It contains sample meal plans and how to arrange your week that you still have at least some variety in your diet.

So enter your name and email below and collect the report.
